The place is unknown. A woman feels she must ask a favour to St. Anne. Her story starts in March 2006 when her own mother had a rheumatoid arthritis seizure. Early in July, she was hospitalized for a double pneumonia. The medicine prescribed for her is not working and she also suffers from cardiac arrhythmia. Hence, from time to time, because of her heart case, she suffered cardiac arrests, 20 seconds at a time. The daughter begins a Novena to St. Anne on July 6th. She asks: ‘Lord please cure my mother or take her with you in Heaven’. Then, numerous complications occurred. In the end, doctors successfully implanted the mother with a pacemaker. On July 26th, the mother was released from the hospital. Her health is much better. It is now comparable to her physical condition in March 2006.
In April 2006, a woman from St. Vallier (near Quebec City) comes to the Shrine as a pilgrim; she is very sensitive and weeps all the time. In April 1996, she had been struck with breast cancer. Then she came to the Shrine and asked for a cure. Now, ten years after the fact, she was crying all along from St. Vallier to the Shrine. ‘I was cured of this cancer 10 years. I am so happy; I need to celebrate this 10th Anniversary with St. Anne.’
In 1950, a son was born to a family from St. Raphael in Bellechasse (near Quebec City, on the south shore). At the time, he had meningitis. Doctors said they couldn’t do anything whatsoever to save him. His mother began a Novena to Good St. Anne. On the 9th day, she saw the doctor with her son. ‘Your son is completely cured. I must tell you that it has nothing to do with me!’
In September 2006, a husbandr and wife from Abitibi (Québec) came to a pilgrimage to thank Good St. Anne for the miraculous cure of his wife. In a very ornate frame, a testimonial was left near the pillar with the ex-voto. “I am writing to thank St. Anne for saving my wife from a sudden death or from a very severe handicap… I thank the good Lord, for allowing my wife to continue living with me and our two daughters”. She was suffering from encephalitis herpetic idiopathic, a cerebral infection due to a herpes virus. The death rate for people suffering of this decease is about 80% with very serious after-effects for patients who survive.
A man from Cap Pelé, New Brunswick, had to undergo an bowels surgery; we “thought it was cancerous”, but our prayers to Good St. Anne were answered and there was no trace of cancer. This man is now fishing again and all is well.
A woman from Saint-Ambroise (Québec) left her gloves in the ex-voto at the Shrine. “On May 15, 1998, both my legs and hands were burned in a propane gas accident. To protect my hands from the sun, the cold and allow for a good recovery, I had to wear these gloves for more than a year. I asked for a favour to Good St. Anne and I did this on the recommendations of my own doctor who looked after me at the Chicoutimi Hospital”.
Dear Father. Magdalene Brewster, she was at least 84 years old, a resident from Nova Scotia, was a faithful pilgrim devoted to Good Saint Anne, in St. Anne de Beaupre for in excess of 55 years. Last year, August of 2006, she passed away. During the many years Magdalene spent 6 months of each year here at the Shrine in Beaupre. During this time she brought her 2 sons and 2 grandsons to this beautiful Shrine. We first met her approximately 10 years ago and we became good friends and enjoyed each others company each year since. Magdalene rented a very small efficient apartment on the Main Street of Beaupre for period of 2 months on each of her visits at least 3 times each year. During she stays she attended daily English Mass in the A.M. and the bilingual Mass in the P.M. On most P.M. services she would be observed taking up the evening collection and then returning to her seat in the first pew of the center aisle. Traveling by bus from Nova Scotia was not an easy chore and then arranging to be picked up and transported to Beaupre. This lady deserves recognition in the Annals not only for her love and devotion to Good Saint Anne, but for the many personal sacrifices to arrive at the Shrine and for the personal monetary gifts presented to the Shrine that have been many over the years, but are unknown to us. Honoring Magdalene Brewster, for her personal sacrifices, to the Shrine of Good St. Anne is not only the right thing to do, but is the least you could do for a lady who had such a devotion to St. Anne, that an article be published in The Annals, from one of the greatest pilgrims ever to dedicate a good portion of her life to St. Anne. Honoring this woman is the right thing to do. We miss her!

A couple from Loretteville, QC, has been married for 10 years and had been unsuccessful at starting a family. The wife went on a pilgrimage to Saint Anne de Beaupré to ask Good St. Anne for a favor. She spoke to a priest about her wish to have a child and attended the Reconciliation sacrament. The priest advised her to go to the Benedictions Office and ask for a special benediction. Ten days later, she was pregnant.
